37 Weeks

We’re knocking big things off the to-do list! Ralph and I (more-so Ralph) cleaned the nursery for what seemed like the 5th time over the weekend and now it looks more put together than ever. I still need to hang some artwork on the walls and then I think it will be mostly complete! My hospital bag is about 90% ready to go aside from the last minute items which is a nice weight off my shoulders. And since 37 weeks is considered full term, it technically could be any day now which is a little exciting AND frightening!

Jen-37 Weeks

How far along? 37 weeks
Total weight gain: 39 lbs UGH
Maternity clothes? The good thing about being on the short side is that the maternity shirts that were once too long are now covering my full belly at 37 weeks. Thankfully I don’t have the problem like most normal-sized women where their belly is exposed in a maternity shirt by this point.
Stretch marks? Still haven’t seen one!
Best moment this week: This week was pretty calm, I’d have to say the highlight was probably hearing the baby’s heartbeat at my weekly Dr’s appt – it’s always a nice sound to hear. 🙂
Food cravings: Sweets and more sweets!
Movement: The kid is trying to break out! Tons of stretching going on this week. I’m sure space is at a premium now for the little guy!
Miss Anything: Not being able to squeeze in between cars if they’re parked too close in a parking lot. Not feeling like getting out of bed in the morning is an Olympic sport. Sigh… pregnant lady problems.
Current Symptoms: Swollen feet, hip pain, pelvic pain, and now my hands and fingers go numb when I’m sleeping. The Dr said it was carpel tunnel and totally normal during pregnancy. It’s just weird to wake up and have your hands hurt after sleeping all night!
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender: A boy!
Labor Signs: I dunno? Sometimes I have some twinges that make me think something is starting, but nothing that really lasts for a while…
Belly Button in or out? FLAT
Wedding rings on or off? Off, I can’t even get them over my second knuckle now. UGH!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Ehh… this week was okay, I guess more towards the happy side than moody. My mood changes daily.
Looking forward to: Starting to work from home next week, just to be on the safe side AND for the benefit of my co-workers. 😉 If I’m more comfortable in these last few weeks, then the less chance of a breakdown in the office. HA!

36 Weeks

The pregnancy wall is coming soon. I can see it in the far distance, getting just a little closer each week. I wouldn’t say I’m “over” being pregnant yet. Sleep is still decent (and I will gladly take as many blissful nights of sleep as I can before the baby comes!) but I can feel myself getting more tired as the days go on. I feel HUGE now and can definitely feel myself waddling. Right now, the baby is almost as long as he’ll be when he’s born and weighs about 6 pounds!

Jen-36 Weeks

How far along? 36 weeks – 9 months exactly!
Total weight gain:  37 lbs EEK!!
Maternity clothes? When is it acceptable to begin wearing slippers at work and in public??
Stretch marks? Nothing yet.
Best moment this week: Coming home from work and finding Ralph spent his whole day off cleaning the house from top to bottom! 🙂 Major husband points!
Food cravings: Nothing crazy, mexican food and sweets are still top of my list.
Movement: I totally jinxed myself last week. This week, he’s all about wedging in my ribs. It’s the WORST when I’m driving and SO uncomfortable!
Miss Anything: When I sneeze, I feel like my ribs are going to pop my lungs, everything is so smushed in there! Can’t wait until every organ is back in its normal place.
Current Symptoms: Feet swelling (which the Dr. confirmed was normal since my blood pressure is still good!), exhaustion – at times I feel like I might have narcolepsy and could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Still have the back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, and leg cramps when sleeping.
Have you started to show yet: Yes, and now people are starting to say “Only a couple more weeks to go!” I really hope not! I would at least like to make it to 39 weeks, but just watch… I’ll probably end up having to be induced.
Gender: A boy!
Labor Signs: Nothing yet so far.
Belly Button in or out? Still as flat as can be.
Wedding rings on or off? Off, I even tried them on again earlier this week hoping that the previous weeks “bloat/fat” was just temporary. No such luck. 😦
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Cranky and tired this week.
Looking forward to: Even though I want him to stay put for a few more weeks, I am excited to meet our little guy and see who he looks like most!

35 Weeks

35 days to go!! And bippity, bobbity, BOO — I’ve turned into a blimp since last week! It seems after 34 weeks, my wedding rings were just too tight for comfort and my feet are swelling to disgusting proportions by the end of the work day.

A couple of funny conversations this week:

Woman to me: “When are you due?”
Me: “In about a month…”
Woman: “And you’re STILL walking???”

I walk into a car repair shop and I look lost while I look for the service entrance from the waiting room. Another pregnant lady happens to notice my lost expression and asks: “Are you looking for the bathroom?”
I laughed and told her I was looking for the service counter…
She backtracked while she tried to explain what she said didn’t come out right. I don’t blame her! It was just one pregnant woman looking out for another! 🙂

Jen-35 Weeks

(Pardon the disheveled look – I had just woken up from a nice little nap.)

How far along? 35Weeks
Total weight gain: 35 lbs – I’m sure to go to at least 40 lbs now! AGH! (And I can SO see those 35 lbs in the photo above!)
Maternity clothes? Nothing BUT maternity clothes…
Stretch marks? In the clear for now!
Best moment this week: Ralph and I went to IKEA on Sunday and on our way out, I ordered 2 frozen yogurts AND a cinnamon roll. NO ONE side eyed me! LOL I will admit one of the yogurts was for Ralph. 🙂
Miss Anything? Not feeling like a beached whale.
Food cravings: Still lovin’ my chocolate and sweets… hence the weight gain!
Movement: Thankfully not as much rib kicking these days. Feeling him move will be one of the things I will miss most about being pregnant.
Current Symptoms: Another new symptom to add this week! Swelling! My feet look like elephant feet by the end of the day, it’s just awful. Our other symptom contenders are lower back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, leg cramps in the middle of the night, and insomnia has started to creep back in.. we’re just getting to the fun part!
Have you started to show yet: YES! I feel ginormous!!
Gender: A little mister!
Labor Signs: Nothing yet so far.
Belly Button in or out? The flattest innie ever!
Wedding rings on or off? Off! Insert sad face. I had to go out and buy cheapie rings so I wouldn’t feel so naked.
Happy or Moody most of the time: A flat line between both this week.
Looking forward to: Having all of the major items checked off my to-do list, like taxes, the nursery, etc, so I can finally just relax and let the waiting game begin!

34 Weeks

Did you know by the end of next month, I will most likely have a BABY in my arms?? It’s a little nerve wracking to not know WHEN he’s coming. Will he be early or will he show up fashionably late and take after his mama? I haven’t “hit the wall” yet as far as being done with this pregnancy, even though I feel HUGE now. I hope he takes his time and doesn’t come earlier than 39 weeks – keep cooking so I can finish getting everything prepared and ready!

Jen-34 Weeks

How far along? 34Weeks
Total weight gain: 34 lbs – I felt extra swollen today, maybe I need to drink more water
Maternity clothes? Still in them!
Stretch marks? Not a one yet!
Best moment this week:  The wonderful baby shower my aunt hosted for me last Saturday!
Miss Anything? It took me about 10 minutes to put on my boots one morning before work, and it was exhausting! I miss not being able to do simple tasks without feeling out of breath!
Movement: I’ve gotten to feel him have the hiccups several times which is pretty funny…
Food cravings: Lots of sweets!
Current Symptoms: Thankfully the backache hasn’t been too bad this week… still have the pelvic pain. I think the worst offender is the pregnancy brain. I wish I could invent a pill to un-cloud the brain while pregnant…
Have you started to show yet: Yes, and now I, too, have a shocked look on my face when people ask when I’m due and I reply, “Next MONTH!”
Gender: A boy!
Labor Signs: Nothing that I’ve noticed…
Belly Button in or out? An innie, I think it would have popped by now if it was going to pop.
Wedding rings on or off? On, but not for long… I think by next week they will be too tight for comfort. 😦 I’m so sad!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody this week.
Looking forward to: It feels like I say this every week, but I am really looking forward to getting the nursery put together and organized. I can’t wait to have it finished, hopefully before my due date! 🙂

33 Weeks

We checked another couple of tasks off our big to-do list before baby last weekend. Touring the hospital and getting pre-registered! I hadn’t been to the hospital since my nephew was born, and not much had changed thankfully. It was nice to see all the rooms and hear how the check-in/delivery process flowed. I think the next big tasks are packing the bags and finding some photo props for newborn photos!

Side note… 49 days to go! CRAZY!!

Jen-33 Weeks

How far along? 33Weeks
Total weight gain:  31 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yep.
Stretch marks? Nada.
Best moment this week: It was a pretty quiet week compared to last. I’d say touring the hospital last weekend and getting to see some FRESH babies! They were so tiny!
Miss Anything? Simply being able to bend down and pick something up without feeling like I just did a 10 minute workout. Last week I accidentally dropped a package of sausage on the floor in the grocery store and it just happened to fall at the feet of a young man with his girlfriend. He just looked at the sausage and then looked at me… Don’t mind my pregnant 8 month belly! I’ll bend down and pick it up!
Movement: This little boy is still kicking up a storm!
Food cravings: Chocolate!
Current Symptoms: Back ache, pelvic pain, EXTREME pregnancy brain, peeing every hour (or at least feeling like I need to) and now adding leg cramps in the middle of the night. So weird!
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes. And if you catch me on a “good” day when I have severe pelvic pain, you can see me waddle!
Gender: Still a little boy… I hope! 😉
Labor Signs: Nothing yet
Belly Button in or out? Still inside!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: A little of both this week…
Looking forward to: Another baby shower this weekend! 🙂

32 Weeks

Holy moly, time is just flying by! Today marks 8 more weeks to go, AND 8 months pregnant! 😮 I was also surprised at work with a baby shower today! It caught me completely off guard and was totally unexpected and incredibly sweet! I thought my boss and I were going to a lunch meeting and I was so shocked to see my coworkers at the restaurant! I am definitely lucky to work with such a wonderful group of people! And how cute is this cake???
Shower Cake
Ralph and I have been working on putting up crown molding in the nursery this week, pair that with it being our first time installing it and my half-functioning pregnancy brain, it’s taking a little longer than expected but coming along nicely. I really can’t wait to have it all finished up and post photos! My next big task to start working on is getting our hospital bags ready. I’ve been collecting a few toiletries but my goal is to have the bags packed by 35 weeks…. just in case!
Jen-32 Weeks
How far along? 32Weeks
Total weight gain: 29 lbs
Maternity clothes? There are maybe one or two pre-pregnancy tanks I can still squeeze into, other than that – maternity clothes all the way!
Stretch marks? Just when I feel my belly can’t possibly get ANY bigger, it does. I just know I’m not going to come out of this pregnancy unscathed without a stretch mark. But for now, the coast is clear…
Best moment this week: Securing a day care and finding a pediatrician. Two huge tasks checked off my list! Not that finding a daycare was the best moment, I only wish Ralph and I would hit the lottery so we could both stay home with the baby. 🙂 But for now, the bills aren’t pay themselves… AND adding to the list of best moments this week – my surprise work shower!
Miss Anything? Having a normal, functioning brain. It is getting worse by the day… and it is becoming increasingly hard to focus and stay focused at work. I’m in LA-LA LAND.
Movement: This week involved lots of pushing out on my stomach. I don’t know if he’s already running out of room there or what, but tons of stretching was going on.
Food cravings: Still loving those sweets!
Current Symptoms: The usual back ache, pelvic pain, pregnancy brain… and now – really having to pee a LOT more. I can walk out of the bathroom and sometimes get about 10 steps then feel like I already have to go back!
Have you started to show yet: Only the blind would be oblivious.
Gender: It’s a boy!
Labor Signs: Nothing yet
Belly Button in or out? Ralph even commented on how stretched my belly button is these days. HA! Still a flat innie.
Wedding rings on or off? Still able to squeeze them on for now.
Happy or Moody most of the time: The surprise work shower definitely put me in a great mood to end the week!
Looking forward to: The hospital tour this weekend and getting pre-registered. Another big task off my to-do list!

31 Weeks

Let the countdown begin… 9 weeks to go! And yet still SO much to do. We had our first baby shower this past weekend which was absolutely wonderful. We went from having almost nothing to having a good dent in the things we needed for this baby! The shower attendees were mostly Ralph’s family and friends and sweet customers that he’s worked with over the past several years. I was just overwhelmed with the generosity of everyone – it makes me SO happy that so many others are excited to welcome this little guy too! 🙂

Side note, can I just say how excited I am for daylight savings time?? I hate having to take photos in the house with my flash after I get home from work, so today we were finally able to grab a little light outside!

Jen-31 Weeks

How far along? 31Weeks
Total weight gain:  28 lbs – whoops! Valentine’s Day was yesterday so maybe that has something to do with a couple of pounds this week
Maternity clothes? Still in these stretchy maternity clothes
Stretch marks? Nothin’ yet
Best moment this week: A toss up between the day my girl scout cookies arrived and our first baby shower on Sunday. J/K! Our baby shower was AMAZING and was one of the best moments this week by far!
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my stomach and staying asleep through the night. Insomnia has reared it’s ugly head a few times this week. UGH!
Movement: Still lots going on in there! There are times when I can swear I feel his head push right on my bladder!
Food cravings: Mmmm… lots of sweets.
Current Symptoms: Still the good ol’ list of horrible back ache, pelvic pain, really bad pregnancy brain, insomnia…
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: It’s a Boy Oh Boy!
Labor Signs: Not that I’m aware of yet!
Belly Button in or out? A very flat innie
Wedding rings on or off? On… I’m so curious to know if I’ll be able to wear them until the end too!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Much happier this week, for no reason at all!
Looking forward to: Organizing all the goodies we got from our baby shower! This baby boy is already SO loved!!

30 Weeks

The BIG 3-0!!!! Oh my gosh… we are rapidly approaching the single digit number of weeks left! While I’m SUPER excited to meet the little guy, we still have so much left to do and buy before he makes his debut. I had another uneventful doctor’s appointment this week. The midwife confirmed I passed my GD test with flying colors (whoo-hooo!) and she also recommended that I eat more red meat. Say no more, that I can DO!! I’m borderline to being anemic but hopefully with a slight change in my diet and maybe some supplements, my iron levels will get better. I think I heard her say I needed more chocolate too….. LOL

Jen-30 Weeks

How far along? 30Weeks
Total weight gain: 26 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yep
Stretch marks? Not a one yet…
Best moment this week: Thank goodness when Ralph went to the Doctor with me last time, the midwife said “Lots of massages” were needed to help ease the pregnancy backache symptoms. Since then, I’ve gotten quite a few massages… The highlight of this week was whenever I got a back massage. 🙂
Miss Anything? I get so many emails advertising clothes for the Spring… I can’t wait until I can wear normal pants and shirts again!
Movement: Yes, still lots of rib jabbing, rolling, punching, kicking, doing who knows what in there.
Food cravings: Sweets! And mexican food… I can never get enough mexican food.
Current Symptoms: This week we have a new symptom to add. Extremely hormonal! Add it to the consistent list of back ache, pelvic pain, pregnancy brain, etc, etc.
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: A mini-Ralph!
Labor Signs: Nothing yet
Belly Button in or out? Still an innie
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: I have literally been hanging by a thread this week, just waiting to cry at the littlest thing. So… extremely moody this week. Poor Ralph for having to deal with me.
Looking forward to: Our baby shower this weekend!!

29 Weeks

I live in a fog, a very dense fog these days. I just can’t think clearly or logically and it seems to be getting worse every week! I feel myself getting antsy at work just thinking of all that I still need to do at home to get ready for the baby, but by the time I get home I just want to rest! I can also feel my delicious sleep days nights coming to an end. I’m beginning to get uncomfortable laying in the same position in bed for more than a couple of hours. I know in the end, all these pregnancy pains will be worth it and I’m sure I’ll look back and miss the days when I could feel this little baby kicking inside me. So for now… I’ll just hang in there!

Jen-29 Weeks

How far along? 29 Weeks
Total weight gain:  25 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yes, still in maternity clothes…
Stretch marks? In the clear for now!
Best moment this week: I would say NOT hearing back from the Doctor which means I passed my one hour Glucose Tolerance test! Woo-hoo!! No special diets for me during this pregnancy… bwhahahahaha Oh, and the cleaning lady at work told me I looked pretty being pregnant today. I thought that was really sweet.
Miss Anything? I want to wear normal pants again. And I want to be able to roll over or just sit up without having to grasp something nearby to help propel myself. I feel huge already!!
Movement: Yep, at times it is SOOO painful. I don’t know what he does but somehow he jams up in my ribs and just stays there. It’s impossible to be comfortable with a nearly 3 lb baby hanging out right under your ribs. And he’s only getting bigger! 😮
Food cravings: My sweet tooth is getting bad. I think this kid is going to end up loving sweets as much as his momma. HA!
Current Symptoms: Backache, pelvic pain, rib pain, fatigue, bad pregnancy brain, peeing every hour…. these days are so much fun! 😉
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: A bouncing baby boy!
Labor Signs: No signs yet… let’s try to keep it that way for several more weeks!
Belly Button in or out? I’ve had dreams my belly button has popped out, I HOPE it doesn’t happen!
Wedding rings on or off? On, surprisingly!
Happy or Moody most of the time: This week was kind of an up and down week… so half moody/half happy.
Looking forward to: My first baby shower in a week!

These are a few of my favorite things…

The second trimester came and went so quickly… Looking back, it was a great 3 months with a lot of exciting changes. I felt the first kicks, a baby bump began to make it’s appearance, sleep was overall pretty good,  I finally got some energy back, and we found out we were expecting a SON! And as I started getting bigger, I found there were a few items that made being pregnant just a little easier. Here they are in no particular order:

1. Earth Mama Stretch Oil
This definitely helped control an itchy belly. And the smell is actually pleasant! I got it for Christmas and have been using it pretty much everyday. Still haven’t seen a stretch mark yet… hopefully this is helping! Amazon has this for only  ~$12.

2. Maternity Lounge Pants
I thought that I could get away with just wearing stretchy pants around the house while I was getting bigger and bigger… but then I got some maternity lounge pants and I feel that they make all the difference in the world! They fold down under your belly and are so comfy. I was even able to get a petite size from Motherhood Maternity so they are a perfect fit! Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Motherhood carries them anymore. 😦

3. It’s You Babe Mini Cradle
I just recently purchased this item after suffering through horrible pelvic pain already so it hasn’t gotten a lot of use yet. It’s basically a support belt that is pretty undetectable under clothes and it seems to help alleviate some of the additional weight I’m carrying in front now. I always wear mine WITHOUT a unitard…

4. Pinterest
I offically became addicted to Pinterest while pregnant. I wish it had been around when I was planning a wedding! I loooove collecting ideas for the nursery, and it was the perfect activity to indulge in during times when I just needed to lay down and rest.

Follow Me on Pinterest

5. My Snoogle
Best.Purchase.Ever.Made! I used to sleep in any position that was comfortable but since becoming pregnant, I hear that it’s recommended to sleep on your side. This position was nearly impossible to stay asleep in. After using about 10 pillows to surround me and keep me propped on my side, I splurged on a Snoogle Pillow. It’s definitely done its job keeping me in whatever sleeping position I fall asleep in. This is how you’re supposed to use it:
But there are others who obviously love it as much as I do:
I’ll be sure to post anymore favorites I find as I get through the last trimester!
